Eligibility Requirements

Team Oregon courses can be physically and mentally demanding. If you require accommodations related to a disability, please contact us at 800-545-9944 before registration. We may need extra time to make arrangements.


Basic Course

Basic Course participants must be 15 years of age or older and able to ride a bicycle. Participants must have a valid driver license or motor vehicle instruction permit. A motorcycle instruction permit is not needed. Out-of-state and international licenses and permits are accepted.

Students younger than 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the required waiver form.

Riders younger than 21 must successfully complete a Basic Course to meet state mandatory training requirements for a motorcycle endorsement. Riders 21 or older are required to take either a Basic or Intermediate course to meet requirements.

A DOT-compliant helmet and full protective riding gear is required. Loaner helmets are available. Students must provide their own eye protection, long sleeves, long pants, full-fingered gloves and over-the-ankle footwear. See What to Bring to learn more.

Training motorcycles from 125-250cc are provided. There are a limited number of 125cc scooters available. If a scooter is available, you may reserve it when you register. You may ride your own motorcycle in the course if it is properly registered, insured and passes a safety inspection. See What to Bring to learn more.

Intermediate Course

Intermediate Course participants must be 21 years of age or older. Participants must have a valid driver license or motor vehicle instruction permit. A motorcycle instruction permit is not needed. Out-of-state and international licenses and permits are accepted.

Intermediate course participants must already know how to operate a motorcycle. Participants must be able to smoothly get underway, turn, shift and stop to enroll in this course. Riders unable to meet this requirement will be dismissed without refund and referred to a Basic Course.

Intermediate Courses meet state mandatory training requirement for riders 21 or older to earn a motorcycle endorsement. Basic Courses also meet this requirement.

Advanced Courses

Participants must provide their own motorcycle, trike or reverse trike that is properly registered, insured and passes a safety inspection. See What to Bring to learn more.


Basic 3-Wheel Course

Basic 3-Wheel (B3W) course participants must be 15 years or older and present valid ID. Out-of-state and international ID is accepted for course enrollment.
