Rider cornering

Take a virtual lap around the kart track!

The Cornering Clinic is a 2.5 hour course for licensed riders that is unique, challenging, and most of all, fun! This is not a high speed, racing-oriented class, but an opportunity to build skills on the tight curves of an enclosed go-kart track while getting feedback from expert instructors.

While there is no experience requirement, the course is designed for riders who have 12,000+ miles of current, on-street riding experience. Imagine – no cars, pedestrians or animals to worry about; no sand, gravel or debris on the road. Just a twisting ribbon of clean pavement and drills to hone your craft and increase your confidence!

The course consists of a rider briefing and two hours of range (on-cycle) instruction. Riding exercises focus on cornering skills such as bike position, head and eye placement, brake/throttle transitions and timing, entry speed selection and traction management. TEAM OREGON coaches will help you improve your curve skills by linking turns and choosing better lines. By the end of the session you'll be carving smoother, more precise corners.

The course site is located about 30 miles north of Salem in Canby, Oregon. The first Cornering Clinic is scheduled July 18 starting at 9:30 a.m. When the first session fills, additional sessions will be added to the schedule (7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.) A total of 72 seats will be available. If the available time doesn't work for you, drop us a line and we'll let you know when new sessions open.

Lunch will be provided, and a volunteer will lead the group to the track and back. Groups will meet at the TEAM OREGON booth in the MOA building. Meet and lunch times are:

  • 6:30 a.m. meet for the 7:30 a.m. Cornering Clinic. Lunch served at 10:00 a.m.

Rider Skills Practice (RSP)

$99

Rider cornering with instructor watching

Click here to register for RSP

RSP is a 4.5-hour course for licensed riders to sharpen cornering, braking, emergency maneuvering and vehicle control skills. Whether you’ve been on two wheels for one year or twenty, RSP will take your skills and awareness to the next level.

There is no classroom in RSP. The course consists of range (on-cycle) instruction only, under the watchful eye of professional instructors. Exercises build critical crash-avoidance skills such as stopping quickly, swerving effectively and cornering skillfully. Riders learn to use a visual lead, select proper lines and avoid target fixation. Participants complete a timed riding circuit at the beginning and end of the course to measure their improvement – friendly “competition” and great fun!

The course site is located at nearby Chemeketa Community College in Salem. The first RSP is scheduled July 18 starting at 8:00 a.m. When the first session fills, additional sessions will be added to the schedule (1:00 p.m. July 18, 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. July 19.) A total of 48 seats will be available. If the available time doesn't work for you, drop us a line and we'll let you know when new sessions open.
