Don’t wait until the weather is nice and courses are filled up — there are plenty of openings now. Take your course this winter or spring and be ready to ride when summer comes.

Extended riding time

  • Get More Practice
  • Boost Your Confidence
  • Prepare for a Retest

Extended Riding Time is for new riders who want more practice before hitting the street or taking a retest.

The course provides 3 hours of on-bike training and coaching to improve control skills and boost confidence. The exercises come from the basic course and help students refine the physical skills of clutch control, shifting and braking smoothly, low-speed balance and control, curve skills and traffic interaction. Smaller class sizes (6-8 students) help make this a fun, low-stress riding experience.

The course is available only to recent Basic or Intermediate course participants. Whether you passed or failed your previous course, you are welcome here – no endorsement necessary! Training motorcycles 125-250cc and helmets are provided, or you can ride your own bike that is street-legal and insured.

XRT is ideal for recent graduates of a basic or intermediate licensing course, but does not meet state mandatory training requirements for riders to earn a motorcycle license. Retesting for a motorcycle endorsement is done separately – call the office for details.

Please note: Riding gear is required for all riding activities. Also, see Completion & Eligibility Requirements.
